Description

Now this is a blast from the past. These illustrations are a set of illustrations of the Lovecraft Mythos i won the Croatian national SF reward for back in 2002.

These were done in pencil, and i recommend checking out my journal and/or using wikipedia if you feel lost regarding the subject matter :)

Ah, ghouls are among my favourites in lovecraftian bestiary. It's because Pickman whom I strongly identyfi with was in the end one of them. Interesting thing, your take on ghoul is alomst exactly the same as mine even though I haven't seen tyour depiction before. [link] I have changed a bit my visoion since then... I have created a new, improvec\d ghoul recently, being less dog like. I'd go for something more subtle suggesting a dog rather than having a typical dog's head - besides - three of Carters friends walked in disguise throughoud Dreamlands until captured by moon beasts. That states that they couldn't have been so animalistic, they must have had some sort of resemblence to a human being for no one would fall for a dog wearing some clothes :p

As for a Ghast I've never been fond of humanoid interpretation, which is most common, always envisioning these as more of dinosauroid shape. Carter never described their anatomy, but we can make guesses based on their behaviour. A s they attacked enormous gug they were mentioned to bite it and kick it with their hooved feet. In case of typical humanoid most natural form of attacking a large opponent would be using front limbs, clawing or punching. .. as they dont do that we can persume their front limbsa are somewhat atrophied

Perhaps I think to much :D but I like giving it that much thouht - I always like to strictly keep to description while exploring freedom of my artistic expression as much as possible:)
